Hi Everyone, If you remember Diligent Disability Care that I've written about in a previous blog, it is amazing to see how much progress they have made since they commenced their business just 7 months ago.  Diligent Care began in October 2020 with a 5-bed group home accommodation facility in West Pennant Hills in the beautiful and green Hills Shire.  Since then, they have systematically developed a range of programs for their participants. Earlier in the year, they created  Eager Explorers,   a timetable in which they took participants to outdoor day programs every Saturday. They have a variety of programs that they tweak to fit the individual needs and interests of their participants. Hi Everyone, So much is happening with NDIS and the most controversial is: The  Independent Assessments By now you'd be familiar with the concerns raised about NDIS's proposed Independent Assessment process. In a nutshell, whilst there are some key benefits such as the cost being borne by NDIA and not by participants, many of whom couldn't afford the specialist consultations, t he  concerns seem to outweigh the benefits.  The disability sector 's c oncerns are about the way assessments will be carried out and  how the assessments will be used to determine participant plans and funding. The former CEO of NDIS, David Bowen believes that the government's change is  "a way of controlling the amount of funds that go into each plan, through determining that plan value through an assessment tool, rather than through a personalised plan." The submissions of several disability industry peak bodies and representative groups over the past few months have slowed down

We've seen a few providers, new and existing, through their NDIS registration process and certification audits.  The highlight was preparing a key client to face three different compliance audits within a week, for their core module and two complex modules. We are proud to claim that after we ran them through a comprehensive internal audit and several briefings, they ended up with a 100% audit success - no dreaded "non-compliance" issues! Hi Everyone, The latest upheaval in the disability sector is the government's announcement of the NDIS moving to independent assessments of participants to qualify them for NDIS funding.  These independent assessments by private contractors will remove the burden of costs involved in getting applicants' treating doctors and other medical experts to do the assessments for initial eligibility and for periodic reviews. However the involvement of the 8 independent contractors selected by government tender is being questioned. A key concern is about their conflict of interest because in most cases these assessment organisations are part of a group of companies where their subsidiaries offer NDIS support services.  While this turmoil is rocking the  disability sector, opportunities continue to grow for disability support services providers with many new organisations entering the scene. If you recall my blogs in February 2021, my focus now-a-days is to give my clients the best possible experience with a holistic approach to their needs. Hi, I’m Janaki, and welcome to my blog,  Don’t Be Left Out of NDIS . I’d like to share my experiences and the reasons behind why I am starting this blog in the first place.  But first, a little bit about myself.  I have worked as a management consultant   for over 20 years with a diverse skill set across governance, customer experience, business development and service delivery.  I had the opportunity to work with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission for over 8 years and with private sector firms in developing international business.  My calling then shifted towards making a positive difference by helping vulnerable communities. Consequently, I worked within the Ageing, Disability Home Care and Aboriginal Housing Sectors. Working in the government sector gave me solid insights into policies, service provision standards, challenges, participant needs, etc. which were further enhanced by my experience with multiple private sector service providers and directly with participants

February 10, 2021 Hi Everyone, Janaki is my name and disability services is my game!  In recent years I've worked extensively in the disability, ageing and home care sectors. Last year my 2020 vision (pun intended) was to pivot Facilitrade, my consulting company, so that I combined my corporate governance and customer experience skills with my passion for servicing providers and participants under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).  I am excited to announce that my new website is out, and ready for you.
